Estate Petite Sirah

2018 Estate Petite Sirah
The origin of Petite Sirah was unknown until 2003.  Most plantings are believed to be the same grape as the French variety named Durif, a cross of Peloursin and Syrah created in the 1880's.  It is a wine high in tannins and with almost an "inky" color.  Here we have floral aromatics of violets and dusty cocoa that shrouds a huge center core of ripe black fruit; think Knott's Berry Farm.  On the palate, big flavors of creamy black cherry, earth, and smoky black pepper.  A big, chewy wine, and though approachable now, it's also a great candidate to cellars for several more years.  Enjoy with bold foods like grilled lamb chops or robust wild game.  Bottled July 27, 2020. 325 cases produced
