If "walk softly but carry a big stick" would apply to a wine, this could very well be the one. Give it a swirl and breathe in nuances of lavender and dried cranberries. Another swirl and taste of this soft monster.....dried fruit of strawberry and cranberry encased in substantial black peppered spice. The mouthfeel is soft and elegant and long into the fruit and spice. Although Grenache is often known to be low in pigment and acidity, this 100% varietal is a beautiful burnt red. It's the acidity that lifts these flavors onto the palate along with a substantial tannin structure, making food a must for this one. A good candidate for cellaring a few years to give it a chance to get softer, yet retain that elegant mouthfeel. A worthwhile investment for a future special occasion. Bottled on April 26, 2017.
