Now in its fourth edition, this wonderful varietal has enhanced an already great lineup of white wines for us here at Wilderotter. Between our undaunting membership and patronage at the tasting room, we’ve managed to sell out the past three vintages so quickly that it had led us to create nearly twice the production in 2017. Vermentino (in France known as Rolle) is grown considerably in Italy and France. Hallmarks of body, acidity, and its perfume nature, yet still a very much lighter style white varietal. Totally fermented in our concrete egg vessels to give this beauty extra richness and mouthfeel…and does it deliver! Absolute crazy aromas of citrus flowers or orange, lemon, lime, grapefruit, and kiwi. Add subtle hints of pear and lychee and a firm slate of underlying minerality…and we have not even tasted it yet! The palate will not be able to sleep through this one….awakening amounts of those same citrus flavors that ping-pong in such a bright and refreshing way. The ultra-clean minerality stays with you to the very end with an unassuming elegance that lends repeating. A perfect candidate to give you the opportunity to turn friends and family onto something new that will hopefully expand their “wine horizons”. Harvested September 6, 2017.
