This is the first of hopefully many more vintages of Vermentino for Wilderotter Vineyard. This grape is known by a few other names, and is grown in considerable amounts in parts of both Italy and France. Its hallmarks are its body, acid, and perfume nature, yet still a lighter style white varietal. Our inaugural vintage of Vermentino is beautifully clean, with bright aromatic notes of mineral and pears. Fermented on the lees in a concrete egg, and allowed to age for five months, this wine developed a richer style, but is still noticeably as crisp as a quality Pinot Grigio would be. In the end, there’s a bit more body and mouthfeel than expected, while still retaining that bright and fresh summer sipper character. Made in very small quantity, so please take advantage while it lasts.
